Chapter 4 How Do You Feel?
“Well, I already slept with him yesterday, so getting into his car is nothing,” Sasha mused.
Without further hesitation, she opened the door on the other side and got in.
Soon, the car began to move again.
Sasha saw that Broderick was holding a document in his hand, while a focused expression was plastered on his face.
Therefore, she tried not to make her presence felt so that she wouldn’t disturb him.
Unexpectedly, he took the initiative and asked, “Are you short of money?”
Sasha froze momentarily at his question but decided there was nothing to hide. “Yes, I am.”
“How much do you need?”
“More than 75 thousand dollars.”
Broderick took out his checkbook and wrote a series of numbers before handing it to her.
Looking at the 150 thousand dollars written on the check, Sasha hesitated for a while and pushed it back to him.
“I won’t accept something offered out of pity,” she uttered.
Apart from last night, they had never crossed paths before.
Sasha did not think what happened last night was a good enough reason for her to accept his money.
“If I took the check, wouldn’t I be the same as the women who sell their bodies?” she mused.
Broderick seemed surprised by her refusal. He stared at the check for a few seconds before taking it back.
“Do you know any way to earn money quickly?” Sasha probed again.
Then, she saw Broderick glance at her again, with a hint of mockery in his eyes.
“That’s all recorded in the criminal law. Do you need me to lend you a copy of it?”
Sasha smiled awkwardly. “No, thank you.”
Her mother’s medical expenses would become a bigger problem if she herself went to jail.
Just as Sasha was regretting turning down the 150 thousand dollars, Broderick suddenly asked, “Should I introduce you to a part-time job?”
“Sure, but I have to work at the hospital during weekdays and even overtime. Is there a part-time job with flexible hours?” she asked.
“Report for duty at Moonlight Bar tonight,” said the man.
At night, Moonlight Bar was the favorite place for leisure and entertainment for the scions in Xosa.
“Broderick, how did it feel being held by your nephew’s fiancée last night?”
Broderick’s friend, Charlie Hughton, was drinking and chatting with him. Charlie wore a floral shirt with a fluorescent yellow suit.
Broderick knew Charlie was talking about Sasha. Broderick took a sip of the wine and replied, “They’ve canceled their engagement, so what do you mean by fiancée?”
“Yes. Without the double identity as the daughter of the Carling family and the fiancée of the Gibson family, Sasha still has a pretty face, not to mention her voluptuous body. This isn’t necessarily a good thing because someone must be eager to get their hands on this delicate flower.”
Charlie was also a member of the elite circle, and he already knew many things.
As Charlie uttered the word “someone,” he looked intently at the obvious bite mark on Broderick’s Adam’s apple.
It was Charlie who held the gathering yesterday. That was why Broderick went to Moonlight Bar.
Thus, when Broderick left Moonlight Bar with Sasha, Charlie witnessed the whole scene while holding a beautiful woman in his arms.
Both Sasha and Broderick were adults. Besides, they left the bar while hugging and touching each other. It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out what would happen next.
Nevertheless, even Charlie didn’t expect that Broderick would be the first one to deflower Sasha despite his relationship with Felix.
The more Broderick ignored him, the more curious Charlie became.
“She looks so dainty. It must be exciting to take her, right?”
“It’s tasteless.” Broderick swirled his wine glass, staring at the wine absent-mindedly.
Due to Charlie’s inquiry, Broderick seemed to be taken back to the scene last night when Sasha was trembling with pain and gritting her teeth.
The air seemed to be thinner all of a sudden, and Broderick tugged at his collar silently.
“If it was tasteless, why did you still deflower her? Or is it that you are not skilled in bed? Why don’t I…”
Charlie was very open-minded about matters between men and women.
He had met Sasha at a banquet before. At that time, she wore a turquoise-colored dress without exposing her arms and legs. Despite that, the slim-fitting dress made her graceful body look more attractive, which made him especially want to be the person to deflower her.
Nevertheless, Felix protected her fiercely at that time.
Now that the Carling family had fallen and the Gibson family also cut ties with the former, Charlie was eager to try to seduce Sasha.
Suddenly, Broderick interrupted him, “Whether it’s exciting or not, we’ll find out next time.”
“Do you want to sleep with Sasha again? When Jacqueline finds out about this, it’ll be too late for you to regret your dalliance,” Charlie replied anxiously.
Jacqueline Lewis was the fiancée the Hoffman family had chosen for Broderick.
Broderick did not refuse the arranged marriage and brought her to all formal events.
Everyone, including Charlie, thought Broderick had finally settled down with Jacqueline.
As for what happened between Broderick and Sasha last night, Charlie only regarded it as a casual fling.
In his mind, it was normal for men to have flings.
What was abnormal was getting too involved afterward. At this rate, things would be getting out of hand.
Jacqueline was a rare good girl with a great family background. She was a pure and kind person who excelled in all forms of art. Furthermore, she was an outstanding doctor.
In Charlie’s mind, a woman like her could not be found elsewhere.
“Broderick will regret it for the rest of his life if he misses out on her,” he mused.
“So what if she finds out? It has nothing to do with me,” Broderick answered.
“Ha! She has nothing to do with you? Isn’t Jacqueline your fiancée?” Charlie thought. Before he could blurt it out, he caught a glimpse of Sasha at another table.
“Damn it! I lost my mind the moment I laid eyes on her. Who wouldn’t want to deflower her?” Charlie exclaimed.
Frowning, Broderick followed Charlie’s gaze and immediately saw the stunning figure.
