Loria looked at the man who came over and smiled in relief.

Colby Duncan’s suit jacket was still hanging on the rack, and he was only wearing a white shirt and a colorful apron with cartoon patterns that could even be called ridiculous. However, he still seemed very handsome.

Colby was quite tall, and he had a nice figure. His facial features made him gentle, and his gold-rimmed glasses gave him a bookish look

as when he was a child.

He put the freshly baked apple pie on the table, looked at her, and smiled gently. “Loria, long time no see.”

Loria smiled slightly. “Long time no see.”

Colby was the Peters family’s adopted son and her childhood sweetheart. When she was five, her father brought him back, and Colby

became her fifth brother.

Loria hated Colby very much when she was a child because she believed that he had taken away her father’s love. But as she grew up, he

became her inseparable relative.

The breakfast on the table seemed wonderful, and Loria’s eyes almost turned red when she saw her favorite apple pie again.

“You still remember that I like apple pie.”

The warm apple filling was mixed with the hot and crispy pie shell, and it tasted exactly as she remembered.

“I always remember your preferences.”

Colby was smiling, but the emotions in his eyes were complicated.

His hair was messy, his white shirt was slightly wrinkled, and his eyes were bloodshot. Obviously, he hadn’t slept all night.

“Don’t you want to ask me where I have been these years?”

Colby stopped cutting the toast. When he looked at her, his eyes were still gentle. “I don’t need to ask.”

He had known her well since childhood.

They had never been separated since kindergarten. No matter where they went, they were always in the limelight.

If Loria was a dazzling star, Colby was willing to be the night sky that always kept her company.

In high school some classmates even called them quarrelsome lovers. They always competed for first place, but they complemented each other and were indispensable.

But they lost contact after that accident seven years ago.

Colby thought Loria was dead, and he didn’t even know how he managed to live without her.

Loria didn’t contact anyone and disappeared without leaving a trace.

“How do you know I’m here?”

Colby smiled slightly and poured her a glass of juice.

“I heard that you are back. I knew you would come back here.”

Colby’s fair and slender fingers were trembling as he almost couldn’t hold back his desire to touch the face he had missed for seven years.

But he didn’t.

Loria only thought that she had started quite a turmoil at the awards ceremony.

After a while, he put down the cutlery.

“I thought you were dead.”

Loria had never expected his trembling voice.

“I haven’t heard from you for seven years. I thought you wouldn’t come back.”

Loria lowered her head. “Sorry. Too many things have happened in these years.”

“Don’t apologize. You never need to be sorry.””

His gaze was firmer than ever, which stunned Loria for a second.

Realizing his gaffe. Colby pushed his glasses and returned to his usual manner in an instant.

“Your brother should have told you that many things have happened in Peters Group during your absence.”

Not long after Loria’s accident, Ives asked Colby to take charge of the entertainment industry that wasn’t favored by the branch in Hagan

Ives would never value Colby since he was the adopted son of Loria’s father.

“I know, Colby. You have worked hard for so many years…”

Colby didn’t like her unfamiliar attitude, so he changed the topic.

“I should have been there at the award ceremony but missed it because I was unwell. Otherwise, I should have seen you at that time.”

If he had known that he could see Loria, he would have joined the ceremony even if he might die of illness.

“It was too late when I saw the news and rushed back.”

When he saw Loria in the news, his hands were shaking. It took him a while to recover, and he rushed to the ceremony like crazy.

However, when he arrived at the scene, everyone had already left. When he calmed down, he thought of this castle but came over one day

later, thinking that Loria must have something to deal with after she came back.

As a result, he hardly slept for the past two days, and now he finally saw the woman he had been thinking about for seven years.

“So you came here to make me breakfast?”

Colby smiled. “Yeah. I don’t want you to be starved at work.”

He reached out and sh*ved her nose lightly, just like old times. Loria’s nose moved slightly, and she smiled.

‘I seemed to know the current situation of the company.” She brought the topic back.

“No matter what you do, I’m always by your side.”

Colby’s attitude warmed Loria’s heart. She had missed this feeling for a long time.

“You’ll attend your first board meeting today. Ives will try everything to suppress you. You must be prepared.”

At the first meeting that she attended after returning, nothing would go smoothly. She knew this very well. Since the others were scheming and well-prepared, she certainly wouldn’t be caught off guard.

Loria sneered. “They’ve enjoyed some good times. I’d love to see Ives’s tricks.”

Colby once thought she was still a little girl who would lean on his shoulder and call him brother coquettishly.

He even believed that she would always need his protection.

But Colby felt a bit dazed when he saw Loria’s deep eyes and the sneer on her face. After all, too many things had changed in seven years.

Even though she tried her best to be close to him, he could still feel her alienation.

She was no longer the little girl who needed protection and care, but he was still the brother who wanted to keep her safe.

Ives waited for Loria calmly in the office of the Peters Group’s headquarters.

Almost all the shareholders present were loyal to him.

Loria was nothing but a woman who had disappeared for years. She wasn’t the one in charge of the company.

Ives looked at the time and realized Loria was already five minutes late. Some dissatisfied shareholders started complaining.

“She is late for the first meeting. She shows no respect to us!”

Everyone in this room was influential, but they were all sitting here waiting for a girl.

They hoped Loria was worthy of their waiting and didn’t want her to be incapable and grumpy.

“It’s good to be a Peters.”

“Hey, you can’t say that. Maybe she’s hiding in the room crying because she fears such a situation.”

They were making fun of a girl without boundaries when Loria heard their laughter through the door.
