Broken Vows Second Chances by Gwen Hayes By Gwen Hayes Chapter 65

Chapter 65

It was cold. Although Elizabeth was wrapped in a thick coat, she could feel the chill from the bathroom wall.

And on her shoulder was Max’s heavy and mighty hand, which clasped her so tightly that she couldn’t move.

Elizabeth struggled a few times to no avail, panting from exhaustion.

She raised her head, stared at the person pressing against her, and sneered while panting, “What are you doing? I’ve seen you through. So you became angry?”

Max stared at her sullenly.

Elizabeth had dazzling and watery eyes that glistened against the light in the bathroom. They seemed to be studded with starlight and were a delight to the eye.

Her nose was straight, and her pink cherry lips glowed charmingly.

But the words from such a beautiful mouth were full of irony, which hurt his heart so badly that he wanted to silence her

forever.

Thinking of this, Max suddenly leaned over and lowered his head, covering her red lips before she could say another word.

“You…”

Seeing him leaning over suddenly, Elizabeth had a vague premonition. But before she could utter a complete sentence, the familiar and warm breath invaded her mouth.

Before Becky came back, every time Max kissed her, she didn’t resist.

It was because she liked him and longed for him wholeheartedly.

Although she made no protest, initially, Elizabeth was shy when kissing the person she liked. Moreover, Max’s manner of kissing was as peremptory as his way of doing things, like a storm that made her at a loss.

Usually, it was not until the end of their kiss that Elizabeth realized that she had indulged herself in it.

Just like now, probably due to his inner anger or pent-up emotions, Max kissed her fiercely and tightened his hands that pinched her face, making the soft flesh of her cheeks slightly out of shape.

She was overwhelmed by his cold breath that manifested his authority over her.

He invested his kiss with his anger.

Elizabeth pushed him away with all her strength and slapped him.

Max turned away due to the impact of the slap, and soon a handprint appeared on his face.

The corners of his lips were red with blood, infusing his handsome face with hints of evil. After a pause, he turned his head and stared at her gloomily

Elizabeth glared at him. While walking away, she wiped her lips and tidied up her clothes that he had messed up.

Before she could take a few steps, she was pulled back by his big hand.

Good-tempered as she was usually, Elizabeth was provoked by him to the point of abusing him.

“Max, are you mad? If you cannot control your lusts, find someone more desirable than me instead of pestering me.”

A shade flashed across Max’s eyes when he heard this, “What did you say?”

He raised his hand that pinched her chin tightly, “Repeat what you just said.”

Unable to resist, Elizabeth raised her head, met his eyes, and said word by word. “I said you should find someone else to satiate your lusts instead of venting your anger on me.”

Max almost went mad out of rage.

Elizabeth smiled, “Or do I need to remind you? Last time you spent the night outside, right? Don’t worry. Since you helped me when my family went bankrupt, I can shield you if needed. You will remain innocent before Grandma. How about it?” “Why do you mention the night I spent outside last time?” Max narrowed his slender eyes vigilantly, “You misunderstood us.

“A misunderstanding?”

She saw it with her own eyes. How did Max have the nerve to say it was a misunderstanding?

Max looked at Elizabeth and learned that her sudden change of mood was because she misunderstood what he and Becky did when spending the night outside. He felt slightly relieved.

His face eased slightly, and he pursed his thin lips, explaining, “Things are not what you think. That night…”

He was about to explain to Elizabeth what happened that day, only to be interrupted by Elizabeth immediately after she heard “that night.”

“I’m not interested in what happened that night. You don’t have to tell me about it.”

She could imagine how he would fool her into believing nothing had happened between Becky and him that night. However, he didn’t know she had been on the spot that night.

Moreover, she saw him picked up by Becky.

He didn’t come home all night and was late for the nursing home the next day. No one knew what he did, and she didn’t care about it. But this incident haunted Elizabeth’s mind and made her almost lose her marbles.

Yes, she had liked Max for many years.

But she didn’t want to be crazy about him.

She was unwilling to be angry with him again.

She wouldn’t be carried away by her affection for him anymore.

Elizabeth’s surging emotions seeped away instantly, and she looked at Max with clear eyes that regained their usual peace.

Max felt the change in her.

Her calmness and aloofness didn’t escape Max’s eyes.

Max was distressed seeing her like this and felt his chest hollowed out.

After a while, he sneered in a tone tinged with self-mockery.

“I won’t flirt with other women without divorcing you. Am I such an unfaithful man in your eyes?”

Elizabeth was unsympathetic to him and asked calmly, “You know yourself better than me. My view of you doesn’t matter.”

Max narrowed his eyes.

“Doesn’t it matter?”

Elizabeth smiled faintly, “Who knows?”

After speaking, she raised her hand and gently wiped the blood from the corner of Max’s lips, which felt like being brushed against by a feather, “I’m sorry. Did it hurt? You can apply some medicine to yourself later. You can find me if you need to cover the matter between you and Becky.”

Max grabbed her slender wrist and gritted his teeth, “Why can’t you let this matter pass?”

“Let go of me,” Elizabeth said lightly.

Max didn’t let her go. Instead, he tightened his grip on her wrist.

Elizabeth frowned slightly and was not as emotional as before, “It hurts.”

After speaking, she struggled lightly but was unable to break free. Ultimately, she gave up resisting and yielded to Max’s grip, lowering her eyes calmly and remaining silent.

It was hushed in the bathroom.

Suddenly, there were two knocks on the door outside.

Nobody responded to it.

Max was furious and didn’t bother to respond at all.

But the person knocking on the door knocked twice to catch the attention.

“What’s up?”

Max asked impatiently and unfriendly.

The person outside fell silent for a while before Becky’s soft and weak voice sounded.

“It’s me…”

Hearing Becky’s voice, Max immediately frowned.

Elizabeth laughed softly. She raised her eyes to look at Max and said, shaking her hands.

“If you don’t let me go and go to the door, your Becky will be anxious to see you.
