Broken Vows Second Chances by Gwen Hayes By Gwen Hayes Chapter 62

Chapter 62

Max was quickly soothed by his mother’s words. He softened his voice to Melissa.

“Well. Elizabeth and I will bring my Grandma home tonight, so you don’t have to go to the nursing home. You can go straight

home.”

“You will bring your Grandma home?”

Hearing Max’s words, Melissa seemed a little surprised. She kept saying, “Is Elizabeth beside you now?”

Max didn’t answer Melissa but looked at Elizabeth and signaled her to speak.

Anyway, he turned on the speaker feature on his mobile phone. Elizabeth could hear them speaking-

Elizabeth said, “Hey, Melissa. I’m with Max now.”

Hearing this, Melissa immediately said in a soft voice, “Oh, so you are here. Thank you for taking care of Max’s Grandma.”

“It was nothing. Thanks for your attention!”

Although Melissa did not treat her as well as Madam Hart, she still had to be polite to her. After all, Melissa was her mother- in-law.

Melissa hadn’t said anything hard to her. When she learned that Elizabeth and Max were going to get married, she was only a little surprised and said, “I didn’t expect you to be married so soon. I thought it would take Max a long period of time to shed light on his truth.”

Then she agreed to their marriage.

However, Elizabeth didn’t understand the meaning of Melissa’s words at that time.

Elizabeth thought, “Why did Melissa say Max needs a long period of time to shed light on his truth?”

Elizabeth thought that Melissa probably had misunderstood that Max liked her, which was why she said that.

Because she got a fake marriage with Max, so there was no need for her to tangle up in this matter anymore.

“Alright, since you are there, we can put our minds at ease. It’s too late today. We won’t bother you. Let’s have dinner together

tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Elizabeth responded.

Max and Melissa talked for a few minutes and then hung up.

On the way back, Max and Elizabeth didn’t talk.

When they were about to arrive home, Elizabeth suddenly turned to look at Max and said, “I’m afraid that I have to let you

down.”

Max didn’t understand her meaning.

Max was flummoxed by her sudden words. He looked at her and asked, “What?”

Elizabeth said lightly, “Grandma’s operation has been postponed, so the date of our divorce will be postponed as well.”

Hearing what she said, Max’s hands on the steering wheel tightened. His mouth was compressed into a thin line of

seriousness.

His voice was cold. “According to the original plan, the divorce date is not on that day.”

His Grandma was in good health before, and the operation had been brought forward for half a month, so the date of their divorce had also been brought forward.

Now, his Grandma couldn’t have the operation, and the divorce could only be postponed. There was no deviation from Max’s original plan.

In addition, their divorce would affect his Grandma’s condition. Max had already made various plans.

“Well,” Elizabeth responded to him lightly. Then she asked, “Is this okay? How do you explain to Becky?”

Hearing this, Max frowned.

“It has nothing to do with you.”

Elizabeth permitted herself a wry smile. “Well, that is your business.”

When the car arrived at the home and just stopped, Elizabeth got out of the car and slammed the door.

Max was speechless.

Lincoln learned that the two of them would bring Madam Hart back home. When he heard the sound of the car outside, he immediately went outside to greet them. But when he came out, he saw Elizabeth getting out of the car with a gloomy face, then he saw Max’s cold expression.

Lincoln took a while for him to come to his senses. He rubbed his forehead and murmured in a daze, “What is going on?”

Elizabeth went straightly to the place on the first floor to Madam Hart’s room. She had called the maid before she came back. The maid was efficient. After she hung up, she changed the sheets and pillows.

The servants would clean the house every day, so the room was very clean. There was no need to clean the room again except change the sheets.

“Miss Hart, everything in the room for Madam Hart has been prepared. Do you think there is anything else that needs to be

added in?”

Elizabeth looked around the room and nodded in satisfaction. “Put some green plants in, and change the curtains to lighter colors. In addition, lit some incense that is good for sleep.”

The maid nodded and left.

After more than an hour, the two of them went to pick up Madam Hart from the nursing home.

Madam Hart felt happy when she heard that his grandson and grandson’s wife would bring her back home. During the two hours of waiting for them, she was in an excited and complicated mood.

She felt excited because she could finally leave the nursing home. The reason why she felt complicated was that she was afraid

that she would cause trouble to them. After all, she was not in good condition at the moment.

No matter how well-prepared at home, there were no healthcare professionals. To take care of her, they would pay more

attention to her. Madam Hart didn’t want to take so much of their time.

However, when she was thinking about it, she heard the nurse’s voice.

“Madam Hart, good news. Mr. Hart and Miss Hart are here to pick you up.”

Hearing this, Madam Hart was a little nervous for a moment.

The two nurses entered the room with smiles on their faces. A nurse said, “We have packed your belongings, Madam Hart.”

Madam Hart didn’t have many things at the nursing home. They were all packed in two suitcases.

She was a little upset. When she was about to speak something, Elizabeth and Max had already walked into the room.

“Grandma.”

Seeing that the two nurses had already packed the luggage, Elizabeth subconsciously said to Max, “Go and carry the suitcases.”

Max paused for a moment. He raised his eyebrows but didn’t refuse. He walked over and pulled the two suitcases.

Elizabeth stepped forward to Madam Hart.

“Grandma, the maids have tidied up the room which you will live in. You can rest after we go back. Did you wash up when we

left?”

Madam Hart shook her head.

She was worried about other things after Elizabeth and Max had left. So she was not in the mood to take a bath.

“It’s okay. You can wash up when we get home.”

After speaking, Elizabeth pushed Madam Hart’s wheelchair outside and winked at Max while walking. Madarn Hart didn’t have time to fuss over whether she should return home or not.

Max was still standing in the room. He looked at Elizabeth’s back and couldn’t help smiling. Then he pulled the suitcases and

followed behind her.

On the way home.

Madam Hart and Elizabeth were sitting in the back seat of the car.

It was very late now. Madam Hart used to go to bed at this time. However, she was excited tonight as if she was not sleepy. She looked happily at the night scene of the city outside the window.

Elizabeth sat next to Madam Hart. She noticed the longing expression on her face.

No matter how high-end a nursing home was, she only felt scared and bored after she had lived there for a long time.

Elizabeth took Madamn Hart’s arm, leaned lightly on her shoulder, and said gently, “I’ll take you to the supermarket after two

days. How about you?”

Madam Hart felt surprised and overjoyed.

“Really? I can go to the supermarket?!”

“I will ask the doctor for advice in advance. It should be no problem to go out for two hours. Don’t worry.”

Madam Hart didn’t speak, but Elizabeth could feel that her mood was getting better from her expression.

Their short conversation enlivened the atmosphere in the car.

Elizabeth originally thought such a harmonious atmosphere could last for a long time, but it was ruined when they approached the gate of Hart Villa.

From a distance, Elizabeth saw a familiar and slender figure near the gate.

The woman was wearing a white dress. It looked a little scary at night. She was standing at the gate, communicating with the security guard.

The security guard noticed their car. He pointed in their direction. Then the woman in a white dress turned around and looked

over.

The headlights hit Becky’s pretty face. Elizabeth saw her face and recognized the woman.

Thinking Grandma Hart was still there, Elizabeth clenched her fists secretly.

“Who is that little girl? She looks familiar.”
