Broken Vows Second Chances by Gwen Hayes By Gwen Hayes Chapter 60

Chapter 60

Max took good care of her might because they grew up together. Or it might be because their two families were very close, and Max treated her as his sister

So no matter whether they were married or not, he would always be good to her

It was ridiculous that she fell in love with him when they got along with each other in this fake marriage

Elizabeth closed her eyes and stopped looking at Max

Madam Hart woke up at eight o’clock in the evening

As soon as she woke up, Elizabeth lay down beside her bed and looked into her eyes anxiously

Grandma, you’re awake. How are you feeling? Do you have any discomfort? Are you hungry?”

Madam Hart looked at Elizabeth, whose eyes widened because Elizabeth was worried about her. Madam Hart couldn’t help but smile and shook her head slightly

She really liked Elizabeth

Seeing she was shaking her head without speaking, Elizabeth licked her lips nervously and put her hand in front of Madam

Hart

Grandma, look at me. How much is it?”

Looking at Elizabeth raised two fingers, Madam Hart’s lips moved. She wanted to speak honestly, but she couldn’t help teasing

Elizabeth. She said, One.”

Hearing this, Elizabeth was startled. Grandma”

Just as she was about to call the doctor, Max grabbed her wrist. Elizabeth looked at him in astonishment and said, Get off of me. I’ll go find the doctor.”

Max stared at her and didn’t let go. He said helplessly, Why don’t you ask grandma again?”

After Max spoke, Madam Hart chuckled

Alright, sweetie. I’m just joking. I’m fine.”

Elizabeth looked at Madam Hart and found she was smiling

Elizabeth finally realized Madam Hart deliberately mistook the number

Madam Hart was fine and was in a good mood

Thinking of this, Elizabeth breathed a sigh of relief

Grandma, you scared me.”

While speaking, Elizabeth leaned over and hugged Madam Hart

Then she fed Madam Hart porridge

Madam Hart ate very slowly, taking a long time to take a bite

After eating half a bowl, she didn’t want to eat more. Elizabeth didn’t force her as she just woke up, and her digestion ability was weak. Elizabeth said, I will feed you later when you’re hungry.”

Madam Hart didn’t say anything else and just sat quietly

She was very quiet, but Elizabeth was very busy. She was very attentive and thoughtful. After Madam Hart had eaten, she went to the bathroom to get a hot towel to wipe her face and hands

After all of this, Madam Hart said to Max and Elizabeth, I’m fine now. You should go back.”

Hearing this, Elizabeth froze while Max frowned

Grandma, what are you talking about?”

Madam Hart’s expression was indifferent, and her tone was very calm

“I’m getting old. Don’t waste your time on me. You need to have some sleep. Go back and rest. I have nurses here to take care

of me.”

Max felt something was wrong when hearing this

Grandma, what do you mean don’t waste time on you? We’d like to accompany you in the hospital. How could you call it wasting time?”

Elizabeth glanced at Max and felt the atmosphere was tense

She put the things in her hands aside and then walked to Madam Hart. She said softly, Grandma, we are willing to accompany you, although it’s also our duty. How could it be a waste of time?”

Madam Hart patted her hand, not intending to get angry at her, but looked at Max

Go back. Take Elizabeth back to rest. I have nurses here.”

Elizabeth couldn’t understand Madam Hart refused them to accompany her when she woke up. Max didn’t say anything after hearing her words. He just sat there with his lips pursed and looked gloomy

Max, are you not listening to me?”

Max frowned

Elizabeth quickly stood in front of him and said, Grandma, do you have any concerns? Why don’t you tell us?”

Madam Hart said such words after passing out, which made Elizabeth even more worried

I don’t have any concerns. I just feel that I am old and have changed my mind about many things. I don’t want to make trouble for you,Madam Hart sighed. Her attitude towards Elizabeth was still extremely kind. Elizabeth, actually, it doesn’t

matter whether I have surgery or not.”

Hearing this, Elizabeth was startled

How come? Grandma, don’t think like that. You recovered very well, and the doctor also said that the operation would succeed. Are you afraid? How about I stay and accompany you until you have the surgery?”

As soon as Madam Hart said the operation was not necessary, Elizabeth panicked. She quickly held Madam Hart’s hand and knelt down in front of her anxiously as if she was the one who needed the surgery

Looking at Elizabeth, who was anxious, Madam Hart felt distressed

After getting along with Elizabeth for so many years, she knew Elizabeth had lived in the absence of maternal love since she was a child. It was rare for Elizabeth to meet a female elder like her, so Elizabeth was very dependent on her. If Madam Hart was not old, she would think Elizabeth treated her as her mother

Grandma, is that okay?Seeing she didn’t answer, Elizabeth looked up at her with a smile on her face. “I’ll stay with you in the nursing home. Ifyou don’t like to be here, let’s go elsewhere. The doctor said you can have surgery at any time as long as you are not nervous.”

Madam Hart finally got what she wanted to hear from Elizabeth

She pursed her lips and didn’t show her attitude

Seeing her like this, Elizabeth guessed what she said might be something Madam Hart wanted to hear

She carefully recalled her words. Combined with the current situation, she asked tentatively, How about we take you home?”

Max also looked at Madam Hart after hearing the words

Madam Hart still didn’t speak. She just looked at Elizabeth and then shook her head under her gaze

Elizabeth, Grandma?”

Could it be she guessed wrong?

Elizabeth thought Madam Hart wanted to go home. She felt Madam Hart seemed to reject this place as she might stay here for

too long

Madam Hart said, No need. If I go home, it will affect you. It’s not like being in a nursing home, where someone will take care

of me.”

After speaking, Madam Hart waved her hand

It’s getting late today. Go back and let the nurse come in to accompany me. I’m a little tired and want to rest.”

Seeing this, Elizabeth wanted to say something more, but Max grabbed her arm and helped her up from the ground

Okay, grandma. Have a good rest. We will come back tomorrow.”

Hearing this, Elizabeth looked at Max in disbelief. She wanted to push him away but noticed Max’s gaze. His arm was strong

and be quickly took her away from the ward
