Broken Vows Second Chances by Gwen Hayes By Gwen Hayes Chapter 5

Chapter 5

She couldn’t go to the hospital.

Once she went to the hospital, her secret would be revealed.

It was ridiculous to say it. She didn’t want people to know about her pregnancy because she wanted to keep

her little self-esteem.

Although Elizabeth knew that from the day she agreed to a fake marriage with Max, her so-called self-esteem

was gone.

She had no self-esteem in front of Max and his true love.

But even so…

Elizabeth lowered her eyes. Even so, she still couldn’t give them any more excuses to laugh at her.

Max frowned deeply after hearing her words. He turned around the car and stopped it abruptly on the

roadside.

Elizabeth thought he wanted her to get out of the car, so she reached out to open the door.

Click…

The next second, the car was locked.

Max stared at her inexplicably through the rearview mirror.

“Why don’t you want to go to the hospital?”

Since she caught up in the rain last night, she’d behaved weirdly.

Elizabeth maintained her calm and said, “I know my body. If I feel uncomfortable, I will go to the hospital

alone.”

Hearing this, Max narrowed his eyes unhappily.

Becky hurriedly said, “Max, is it because of me? You can drop me off here and then take Elizabeth to the

hospital. After all, her condition is serious and can no longer be delayed.”

After saying that, Becky leaned towards Max, wanting to press the door lock switch.

Elizabeth saw Max stop her, and their hands touched.

“Don’t talk nonsense.” Max frowned. He looked at Elizabeth and then said, “Don’t overthink. It has nothing to

do with you.”

Becky glanced at their touching hands. A hint of shyness flashed across her eyes.

Elizabeth watched this scene quietly.

It wasn’t until Becky looked over that she retracted her gaze embarrassingly.

“Elizabeth, I misunderstood you. I thought you were angry with Max and me. I’m so sorry.”

Elizabeth glanced at her indifferently.

“She is so bitchy! Flirt with my husband in front of me and then apologize to me! Impressive!” Thought

Elizabeth.

“Anyway, she helped me when I was helpless. I still remember it.”

Elizabeth smiled at Becky reluctantly.

“It’s okay.”

Becky smiled and said, “You don’t want to go to the hospital. Is it because you are afraid of going to the hospital? I have a friend opening a small clinic after he graduated from a foreign medical university. If you

don’t like hospitals, we can go to his clinic.”

Then, she looked at Max, “What do you think?”

Max was suspicious. He frowned and asked, “A clinic? Is it reliable?”

Becky was a little embarrassed, “Of course. If it’s unreliable, how could I introduce it to you? Don’t you believe

me?”

After thinking for a moment, Max nodded, “Okay. Let’s go to the clinic.”

Elizabeth didn’t want to.

“I…”

The next moment, the car had already rushed out. She didn’t have a chance to say no.

Becky was still trying to comfort her.

“Elizabeth. Relax. My friend is very professional. He is very gentle and patient with his patients. I will talk to

him in advance. You don’t need to do any test you don’t feel like to.”

How gentle and considerate she was! Compared to her, Elizabeth was unreasonable and dramatic. She didn’t want to go to the hospital even when she was ill.

Becky had planned it well for her. What else could she say?

Elizabeth didn’t say anything. The car drove speedily.

Soon, they got to the clinic. Becky helped Elizabeth exit the car and gently said, “Are you still dizzy? If you feel uncomfortable, lean on my shoulder.”

Her voice was soft, and her tone was gentle. Elizabeth could smell a faint fragrance of gardenia from her body. She was so gentle and peaceful when she held Elizabeth.

Elizabeth lowered her eyes and thought.

“She is not

only beautiful but also excellent.”

“Most importantly, she saved Max’s life.”

“If she were Max, she might like her too.”

Becky’s friend came. They walked away and talked for a long time. The man was wearing a white gown. He spoke with Becky and looked at Elizabeth from time to time. Then, he walked over.

“Hi, are you Becky’s friend? My name is Gary Tinsley.”

Elizabeth greeted him, “Hello.”

“Did you have a fever?”

Gary asked gently. As he asked, he wanted to put his hand on Elizabeth’s forehead to check her temperature.

The sudden approach made Elizabeth subconsciously dodge to the side. Her reaction made Gary smile. He said, “Just to check the temperature.”

He didn’t insist but took out a thermometer, “Let’s take the temperature first.”

Elizabeth took it over.

Max asked gently, “Do you know how to use a thermometer?”

Elizabeth was speechless.

She ignored him. How could she not even know how to use

thermometer?

However, she was a little dizzy due to illness and moved slowly.

Elizabeth put the thermometer under her armpit and waited.

Becky took the opportunity to introduce Max to Gary.

“Max, this is Gary. I mentioned him to you on the phone before. He is very good at medicine but likes freedom and doesn’t want to work in a big hospital. So he opens this clinic. Gary, this is Max Hart. He is…”

She paused for a while before she said shyly, “My friend.”

“Friend?” Gary raised his eyebrows at this address, and then his eyes inadvertently passed Elizabeth’s face before looking at Max, “Hello, I’m Gary Tinsley. Nice to meet you.”

After a while, Max raised his hand and shook lightly with the other party, “Max Hart.”

“I know you.”

Gary smiled mysteriously and said ambiguously, “I often hear Becky talking about you. She thinks highly of

you.”

“Gary…” Becky didn’t expect he would say that. Her fair cheeks instantly turned pink.

“What? Did I say it wrong? Don’t you usually praise him in front of everyone?”

“Okay. Don’t talk anymore.”

Max glanced at Elizabeth.

She sat on the sofa with her eyelids lowered slightly. A few strands of hair hanging down her cheeks covered half of her forehead. It also covered her beautiful eyes and hid all her emotions.

She just sat quietly, staying out of their talk, like an outsider.

Max’s face darkened instantly.

Five minutes later.

Gary took the thermometer and then frowned, “The temperature is high. Let’s get you an injection.”

Elizabeth raised her head and said, “No injections.”

Gary glanced at her and then smiled, “Are you afraid of it? Don’t worry. I’m very gentle.”

Becky also nodded in agreement, “Yes, Elizabeth. Your health comes first.”

Elizabeth shook her head and insisted, “I don’t want to get an injection, nor do I want to take medicine.”

Her stubbornness annoyed Max.

“Then you can only cool down physically. I’ll prescribe. You can use a wet towel to cool your temperature

first.”

When Gary left, Becky said, “Let me help you.”

They walked out. Only Elizabeth and Max were left in the room.

Elizabeth was dizzy.

She wanted a wet towel to cool herself down, but she had no strength to move right now.

At this time, Max, who had been silent all this time, suddenly said a word.

“Hypocritical.”
